This story was told to me by my art teacher during my freshman year in college. For uplifting reasons, I don't think I will ever forget this story.
A lady was having a garage sale. A man came by and saw a painting he liked. He asked her how much she wanted. She thought about it and said $200. He laughed and said that's outrageous. He said he will give her $100. She thought about it, but declined. The man left. The next day, the man came back and told the lady he would take it for $200. She thought about it again. She actually painted that picture and remember how much time and effort went into it. She told the man the price is now $400 because it's truly one of a kind. The man was outraged and told the lady she would never sell it at that price. Later in the day, someone came by and bought the painting for the asking price of $400.
Moral of the story is to know what you're worth and don't sell yourself short. :)
